Description

Probably one of my last tries this year. Only 5,5% illuminated, a nice slender scimitar cut in the blue, not a fat chance of imaging it after sunset anymore. Lotsa rain, coming from the west, every afternoon. This shot comprised three captures, from 19:44 to 20:26 (quick packing, thunderstorms approaching!), nearly 4000 frames each, bad seeing, bad transparency, including some iridescent clouds, I think from the thunderheads tops. Used Anthony Wesley's technique, shorter exposures (75 to 90 ms), 5 to 7,5 fps, adjusting gain and gama to try to reduce the sky glare. Hard processing, WinJupos to integrate the 3 sets. Still no clear cut albedo (?) features, nothing close to Anthony and Christophe Pellier. Since Venus is so close and big, I think this kind of technique will grow to a fully featured amateur astronomy must have thing. Bigger glasses, better NIR sensitivity of cameras, new processing techniques, will see more of this in the future!
